The Brief

The client was facing high electricity consumption and rising costs. They wanted to offset their electricity bills as much as possible by maximising their roof space and enjoying ‘free’ energy at night, when their energy usage peaked with a typical family setup.

Solution

Our design team optimised the roof layout, navigating around obstructions to install the highest wattage panels available. We paired a 10kW battery with the same inverter, allowing the client to monitor their production and consumption data day and night. The SolarEdge App has revolutionised their energy usage, making them more energy-conscious. Now, they run their washing machine, dryer, and dishwasher during the day when energy is being produced. They also turn off lights when leaving rooms and fill the kettle with only the necessary amount of water.

Despite winter’s low sun, cloudy weather, and limited daylight, our battery has been fully charged on several days. From Jan 1st to Feb 14th, 2023, we charged back 108 KWh to JEC. Our system has produced 55% of our consumption, so we’re only paying for 45% of our domestic tariff usage. Bring on the summer!
