698 x Solar Panel Commercial Installation
The Brief
Ferryspeed approached us when they were having their new sorting shed built in 2022. Nick Green, the Group Executive Director advised they wanted to deploy renewable technology to demonstrate commitment of green solutions to their large client base who felt like the company had to not only cut down on their waste but to commit to a long-term investment which improved their eco margin.
Solution
We listened to the customer, liaised with the project planners to ensure the drawings of the new building were accurate which also meant we could max out the roof space to ensure Ferryspeed were able to offset their electricity bills and to then export the other half of the array directly to the JEC which meant they were receiving money back for what they didn’t use nor need.
The system, which consists of 698 x Trina Solar Panels totalling 280kWp is the largest privately owned renewable energy installation in the Channel Islands, narrowly passing the 2019 installation on Guernsey Post headquarters. The system is a unique hybrid, for which 60kWp is a traditional connection to the buildings electrical system to generate savings through the direct offset on the purchase of electricity. The remaining 220kWp of solar is the first of its kind in Jersey where 100% of solar electricity generation is sold to Jersey Electricity, the Island’s energy partner. Jersey Electricity has facilitated a dedicated electrical service to the export of solar power.
