Jersey Electricity (JE) in partnership with SunWorks are currently looking for viable sites to generate Renewable Power for Jersey.
JE have prepared a comprehensive ‘airspace lease agreement’ which requires a building’s owner/occupier to sign for fixed term, typically 25 years. An agreed amount paid to the building owner is dependant on the amount of solar power the roof can yield and the cost of the installation with all things considered.
JE will arrange the installation contract through SunWorks to supply, install, commission and operate the solar at no cost to the property owner. This means the building is being used for its large roof space to generate electricity and could be seen as a rooftop ‘solar farm’.
In Jersey, Rooftop solar even at this scale typically does not require Planning consent and therefore presently a far more viable option than ground mounted commercial solar (which would require specific permission).
